The emergency room specialist sees many patients with Covid-19 infections along with comorbidities that are associated with this infection during this Pandemic.
Emergency room physicians from the Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Kentucky, USA; Department of Emergency Medicine Brooke Army Medical Center, United States of America; Department of Emergency Medicine Rush University Medical Center, United States of America have published this study in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
This authors have ummarizes the thrombotic complications associated with COVID-19 as they present to the emergency room.
The thrombotic complictions include
1) acute limb ischemia
2) abdominal and thoracic aortic thrombosis
3) mesenteric ischemia
4) myocardial infarction
5) venous thromboembolism
6) acute cerebrovascular accident
7) disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)
The authors implore emergency room physicians to be vigilant and on the lookout for "the thrombotic complications of COVID-19".
They further state that "knowledge of these components are essential to rapidly recognize and treat to reduce morbidity and mortality in these patients".
