The Rotterdam Study was published. The title of the published study Dermatological screening of an elderly population says it all. The study was published in Dermatology Online Journal 2016 Sep 15;22(9).

In regards to patients with varicose veins, the study reported Age- and sex-adjusted standardized prevalence rates (PR) calculated per 100,000 persons aged 50 years or older.

In addition to skin diseases, 1466 (27.3%) participants had clinical varicose veins. 

This means that in patients older than 50 years, a quarter (27.3%) have varicoe veins. This data is congruent with scant published data from the United States.
